Replacement of Original Part
By Roger M.
Edison, New Jersey
Purchased 12/10/2020 |
Review Posted 01/05/2021
This part was a replacement for an identical float switch which failed after 4 1/2 years of moderate service. Even though this is a compact, space saving design, the original should have lasted much longer. Analysis of the old switch showed a deterioration (melting) of wiring sealant compound on unit head resulting in an incomplete circuit. Thankfully, a battery powered backup pump was installed from the beginning.

Switch Works Fine, For Now

I've replaced this one after only about 2 years so can't give a great review just now. It was recommended by someone whose model has worked for many years. Fingers crossed.

Keep A Spare On Hand
By Anthony M.
WAYNESVILLE, Ohio
Purchased 12/29/2019 |
Review Posted 01/21/2020
These switches are a breeze to install and I love the way you can adjust their height on the PVC pipe to adjust what height you want the water to be before turning on the pump. The ion sump pumps they are mated to are hands down the best pumps I've ever used and the only ones I'll buy. It's great that the float switch is separate from the pump unlike Zoeller's. It's so quick to change the switch out (10 mins or so). I have a high water table and my pumps run on and off everyday even during a dry week! I have to have spare switches on the shelf because of this and these switches fail between 6-12 months due to their workload in my situation. By the time I pull one off of the shelf, the warranty expired but I don't have a choice due to the need of having have multiple spares being I run two pumps in two separate pits.

I Have Bought This Float Switch From ION At Sump Pumps Direct Ye
By Fred S.

Purchased 03/16/2014 |
Review Posted 09/25/2019
This float allowed me to put the height it triggers where ever I want and still working great. I will soon probably purchase another one from Sump Pumps Direct as I have another pump to control. Thanks again Sump Pumps Direct and iON for offering a smart choice for a float alternative.

Saved The Day

We all know that for sump pumps, the switch is the weak link as it gets the most repetitive use. My switch on my Ion battery back up sump pump which also serves as my second pump failed. A large rain storm was approaching and I knew it would be trouble for my basement. I ordered the float/switch on Tuesday and the item was delivered on Thursday AM. It took about 15 minutes to remove the old unit and install the newly received replacement. Started raining several hours later and after a few more hours both pumps were in constant use. Saved my basement with family room, laundry, bathroom and workshop. The old float switch lasted about 10 years so I can’t complain. Quick service saved us from a disaster.

Switch Failed in 2 1/2 years
By John H.
Corte, California
Review Posted 10/25/2018
I have three pumps on a dedicated circuit. Everything was fine for the first year or so. Recently, the breaker has been popping regularly, and I finally tracked it down to this switch. No switch, and the pump pumps . Add the switch and the breaker pops. Of course the warranty period is past.

I'll try another and see how it goes.

Excellent Switch, Until Float Waterloggs
By William R.

Review Posted 12/27/2017
Works well for a year or so. Have a problem with the float getting water logged. Contacted mfg to no avail. Can't purchase the float separately. Bummer! Don't understand their reasoning, I now have three with waterlogged floats.

Expert Response
Very sorry you experienced issues with this switch. We've been selling this switch for quite a few years and never had any customers experienced any issues with a waterlogged float. There is a 3-Year Warranty on this switch. I would suggest contacting ION @ (800) 323-1665 for warranty replacement.

Product Questions Answered by Jim, the Sump Pump Expert
Do you make a switch with a longer down rod to give the float more travel? Once the switch is engaged, I need a greater range from on to off of the switch. Thanks

Jim. Any reason I cannot cut off the piggyback plug and install crimp terminals to use on my battery back up pump. I only need a normally open contact in the switch when the water is at a normal level that closes on water rise make it work. My tethered float switch is too unreliable

Hello Jim, what is the max full load amps the Storm pro vertical switch can handle? I have a heavy duty pump that is 15 Full Load Amps. If can't handle do you have any recommendations other than a tether? Thanks, TC
