Ion Power Pac 1/3 HP Stainless Steel Duplex Sump Pump
By Charles H
Ohio
Purchased 01/02/2025 |
Review Posted 01/24/2025
Purchased and installed by myself in January 2025. Purchased because I now have a whole house generator and wanted a backup system but do not need a battery backup anymore. Extremely happy with the unit. I purchased from Sump Pups Direct. The PVC piping on the first unit received was broken in shipping. I followed the instructions in the package and called ion Technologies directly and they immediately sent out a replacement unit that was in good condition. I then installed myself. I needed to call customer service at the ion Technologies customer service number to get some answers to questions and Jeff and Matt were very helpful in answering my questions.
The package came with a manual on the pump and a separate manual on the ion Genesis II pump controller, but I did not see a manual or a video on line the combined pump system with the controller. Here are some things that I learned through discussions with customer service that I did not see in a manual (and perhaps I just missed it somewhere - it could have been me): 1. the pump literature says to drill a 1/8" hole on the PVC pipe above the pump to prevent air lock. This complete unit comes with that hole already drilled in the check valve - but unless I missed it, I do not believe that the literature mentions this. 2. I have the 'setpoint' (level for turning on the pump) at 6" (which was also the default setting that it came to me with).
As it should, the pump turns on when it hits the 6" level and turns off when the level gets to 0". Two matters that are not problems but you would not know from the literature: (1) my pump turns off when the water level hits 1" above the top of the digital level sensor, not the middle of the sensor. Discussed with customer service who said this was within an acceptable range. (2) once the level hits 0" and turns off, the water in the exit pipe below the elbow bend to outside of the house flows back into the pit and the level comes back up to 3". Thinking about it, this makes perfect sense, but I just wasn't prepared for it.
Again, I love the product and would buy it again. Customer service was great.

Excellent Sump System

My sump is very active during the wet seasons. It can cycle every 15 seconds continuously. Very heavy use. This dual pump system protects against motor burn out. Ion is a high quality product. Just replaced the identical system with a new one after 5 years in service. Wish the system had a run cycle meter so planned replacement could be managed more professionally.

So this is our third sump pump system since we added on to our house in 2008, which included a basement under the new addition, hence the need for sump pump. We have a back up generator so the lack of power isn't an issue, but all pumps eventually fail. Count on it. Death, Taxes, sump pump failures.
While water alarms are great, they don' t solve the problem. You can also count on them failing at the worst time possible.
For us it was Christmas day with inlaws and even outlaws, plus everyone else at our house. Thus the idea that you can dual system with 'another' pump keeping the basement dry while you order a replacement of the entire dual pump system makes too much sense.
Anyway we got it five days early and I had it up and running 2 hrs later.

The System I Was Looking For
By Deschamps J

I wanted a double sump pumps system as the house is protected with a power generator and per the available statistics, there is more basement flooding due to sump pump failure than lost of electricity. This system is easy to install, fit perfectly in a standard sump well. Sensors are digital and very precise and responsive. Both pumps alternate so you are sure they are constantly tested and there is even a high water level alarm in case off!

This Is Simply The Best Product If You Have Constant Water In Yo
By Dean H.

This is my second Ion pump system. I bought the first one and installed it four years ago. That system is still going strong. I have two crocks in my basement and I have water in them year-round. I replaced my other pump recently with this Ion system. I would replace other pumps between every 6 months to at best every three years. With this system, it is very high quality and worth the extra cost if you have a basement tile system with a lot of water.
I combined this system with a NG backup generator and I never have to worry about my basement flooding again!

Well Worth The Money For Peace Of Mind.

I'm very happy with this system. The installation was easy, less than an hour total. The digital water level setting makes the float adjustment foolproof. Like most people, I only bought this because the float switch on my two year old pump failed and my basement flooded. Do yourself a favor and install this before you are mopping up water at four a.m.

I was looking for an alternating, duplex system and didn’t need battery backup since the pumps are on my generator circuit. These completely satisfy my needs. Excellent technology well assembled and packaged.
