Best Sump Pump You Can Buy
By MNRodent

Review Posted 04/17/2024
I have two Ion BA50i sump pumps that were installed in 2015 and are still going strong in 2024. They operate nearly silently and living in a great lakes area with frequent huge rainfall totals they have no problem keeping up with my nearly 5,000 sq ft home with central gutter system feed these pumps.
Three of my neighbors have had pump as well as pump switch failures (and flooded basements) with other model pumps and traditional float switches (some failing in less than three years) and mine just keep going strong. My experienced plumber tells me the switches are the weak point for many pumps, and the ion digital membrane switch with no moving parts, tested for literally millions of on/off cycles is the way to go.
The pumps are well made and stainless steel construction for critical rust areas as well as ceramic seals show the quality of these pumps. These Ion pumps and switches come at a premium price, but I enjoy having one of the few never-flooded and dry basements in my neighborhood.

I installed this pump as a replacement for a seven plus year old unit. The install was so simple, connect the pipe, put it in the pit and power it on. The level is preset to save the constant adjustment tinkering.
This pump met my needs as a salt water resistant pump as the water softener drains the flush water into the pit as well.
The performance has been stellar thus far, in comparison to the old unit, it ran about every two minutes during the heaviest downpours. The old pump ran every 13 seconds in the same situation. It is very quiet and I installed the Zoeller clear quiet check valve at the same time.
The drawback to this pump, in my opinion, is the price is a bit higher than others and the pump connection to the exhaust pipe is a 2" plastic fitting which causes me some concern for the longevity durability. I will have ot wait and see how that turns out.
A professional plumber had advised me to not buy the pump I chose saying it would run too much and wear out sooner, but in my search through Sump Pumps Direct, I was guided towards this pump and I think it is the right one for my setup,

Pump replaces a pedestal unit that used more current and pumped less water. This new unit is very quiet and really moves a lot of water. Very fast delivery.
