Wayne ESP45 Reviews & Ratings
Structural Integrity Lacking

This pump was installed to replace a Wayne ISP40, which failed after about 4 years due to a faulty switching system and considerable rusting.
After 2.5 years after installation (but still under warranty), the cast iron bottom of this ESP45 pump separated from the main body due to rust and corrosion (note: foundation groundwater is all this pump was used for nothing corrosive). The pump would kick on, but would not eject anything. Initially, I thought that one of my check valves in the main pump "Y" installation piping had failed, causing a "do-loop circulation" problem. However, it was the pump itself that literally fell apart.
It's being replaced under warranty, but my faith in Wayne pumps has waned considerably (pun intended) based on these two failures. Ironically, the 2 - 12 volt batteries wired in tandem that provide 24 volts have outlasted the two Wayne pumps, and the electronics/charging system works fine.
I expect to have to replace this pump again in about 3 years, which is unnerving given it's a backup pump installed to prevent castraphonic flooding in the basement. Presumably, by then, the original 2 batteries purchased to run the ISP40 will need to be replaced . . . allowing me to switch to a more conventional --- and more durable --- non-Wayne battery backup system.

Works great. I was impressed with how quickly the pump emptied the pit when it was in the battery mode. I can't always be home when the power goes out so it provides me a lot of peace of mine. It definitely moves a lot of water. Because my primary pump has a tethered float, the installation had some logistical challenges, but the rest of it was very easy. Batteries are a very expensive. Very pleased with the speed of the transaction. Shipment was promised in 7-14 days and arrived within 7 days.

Recently installed the Wayne ESP 45 battery backup sump pump.. Our electric was recently out all night. It saved me from a wet basement. Pumps as much as my 12 HP electric. I would highly recommend it for any basement that pumps a lot of water.
