Pro Series USC3 Reviews & Ratings
Defective After Little Use
By Jeff C.

Review Posted 11/19/2019
So worked well for 6 years but the electronic switch seems to not allow the pump to shut off. I have another one of these on my ejector pump and was doing same thing, but a cleaning helped it. What bothers me is that this controller is supposed to sound alarm if unit runs for more than 10 minutes and it never did that on either units. Pump works great but its only as good as the controller and switch. I bought electronic since it was said to have long live since no moving parts, but 6 years is pathetic as had a hydromatic that went 12 years no issues.

Using this in combination with a Zoeller N53. Very high water table and this controller allows me to set my own run time. Currently set for 20 seconds, and in the spring my pump runs every 3-4 mins, and every 10-15 mins year round. Also have a watchdog battery backup and 2 separate water alarms. Have 30k into a finished basement and never want to experience a flood. This controller is 3 yrs old next month, and has been flawless.

Do Not Buy!

I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am in the Pro Series USC3 - Ultimate Sensor Digital Pump Controller System. I purchased mine in Nov, 2012. Over the course of 3 years, my unit failed 3 times for the EXACT same thing. It continued to let the sump pump run and would not shut off. The company sent me a total of 3 replacement units with no success. I told them I can't be the only one in America that this has happened too. My warranty just expired so I decided to purchase the Level Guard unit and so far it's perfect. Time will tell....

I just installed this and hooked it up to a Liberty 250 Sump Pump. The controller works as advertised and after the initial setup it has been working without issue.
It was between this and the LevelGuard. I purchased this one because it allows for customization on run time which enables me to make the cycles on the Liberty Longer and hopefully provide more life to the pump.
I would recommend that if possible a change be made to the adjustment of the run time dial. Maybe somehow a visual of the run time in seconds. This would require a larger dial, but would be a much easier setup. Also the battery door does not close all the way when a battery is installed. Not a big deal, but I had to kind of force it close.
Overall it is a great product and I ordered a second one today as Standby along with a second Stand By Liberty 250 pump. just in case something happens with the one I have running. I'm not taking any chances that something happens to my finished basement.
I also installed an iON StormPro with dual batteries and a WatchDog Water Alarm.

Wanted to Replace Float Switch
By Philip F.
Highland, Michigan
Purchased 02/09/2014 |
Review Posted 03/24/2014
Kept replacing floats which seemed to fail/falter frequently. This is a simple solution. Pump runs for 8 seconds and if that doesn't empty the sump it runs again. Rarely runs twice and almost never runs three times. Our laundry tub drains into the sump so when the washing machine is going, that might make the pump run 3 times.

So Far So Good

I purchased this product because all the Big Box Brands kept failing. My brother installed it for me. I've had it for six weeks in lots of rain and it has not failed me to date. It moves the water fast and it is very quiet.I love the backup monitor. At a glance you can tell that your system is working.
My only advise is that you use a good surge protector. The first one we used must have been bad because the alarms went on that the main pump wasn't working when we plugged the backup unit in. We changed it and all has been fine since. You will also need to purchase a battery.
I thank Sump Pumps Direct for their good advise regarding this purchase.

Thank you for your review. We would like to clarify that we do not recommend a surge protector to be used on a primary pump since the start surge can actually damage the protector and is not recommended to be used by surge protector manufacturers.

Sump Switch Fix
By Kevin
Michigan
Review Posted 05/21/2013
After experiencing failures in both pressure and tethered type switches I was willing to try out this electronic type. Device acts as both a sump pump switch and an alarm. This is less expensive option since I previously paid for both of these separate devices in the past. Very easy to install. What is great about this product is you can adjust the time perfectly so that is custom made to your sump basin.

Upgraded Pump System
By Ryan
Fort Wayne, Indiana
Purchased 04/24/2013 |
Review Posted 05/02/2013
I upgraded from a HydroMatic 1/4 HP to this 1/2 HP Liberty Pump. This pump is heavy and extremely quiet. After installing the controller, I was adding water to my sump well to adjust the pump ON time. While waiting for the pump to turn on and still adding water, the water level started to drop rapidly. I didn't even hear the pump kick on and that was the purpose of adding water to the well. So, I had to try again. This time I held onto the pipe to "feel" when the pump kicked on.
As for the Pro Series Controller, I gave it a "4" because of the crappy battery cover and the volume of the built-in alarm. It's very quiet and even in emergency mode, it only chirps a low chirp occasionally.
I added the Watchdog alarm, which is extremely loud, to the remote switch on the controller and it works well. The controller, however, doesn't turn the remote alarm ON unless there's an emergency alarm. The low battery and missing sensor chirps are only audible from the controller itself. The sensing probe on the Watchdog alarm works instantaneously. I will be placing the probe on the floor and running it in parallel with the remote output on the controller. Pretty sweet setup for the price. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your review. We would like to mention that the USC3 alarm is 85 decibels, which is sufficient for most applications, but if you do have a special situation in which you need a louder sound the watchdog alarm is a good option at 110 decibels.

Works fine

My sump has a limited distance range from the pump's inlet to the drain hoses, and as such the range of height is limited. This remote switch solves a lot of problems. First, I was able to mount it (as recommended) away from the discharge hoses, but also not on the actual pump, which will make it far easier to replace the pump in the future. Why do I spend as much on the switch as I did on the pump? It's simple: I have bought two sump pumps (for different applications) in the past 3 months, in both cases the pumps were fine, but the switches have failed! Lately the switches supplied with sump pumps are pure junk, and frankly, I have no desire for failures here, and I REALLY do not want to bother with either sump pump installation for the next 20 years if I can avoid it.
I should also mention that the competence and professionalism of the staff at Sump Pumps Direct is light years ahead of the big box suppliers.
