Works, In The Leosest Definition Of The Word

Review Posted 01/27/2024
I bought this to add to my existing setup, which I am very happy with and is quite high quality. As others have mentioned, this device is a "bare minimum" offering with very old, functionally deprecated standards. The wifi connection requires 802.11G, which was standardized in 2003, requires 2.4Ghz, and has been considered "legacy" for many years now. I had to install an older access point specifically to support this device, which is both irritating, adds to unnecessary complexity, and only after reading these comments did I realize what I needed to support to make it work. If I'd known of the limits, I would have likely refrained from this purchase. I wanted some external visibility and this seemed like a reasonable option. I probably should have read the reviews first - that's on me.
As others have mentioned the reporting is very limited, too. I get more information from my Sense electrical monitor than I do this thing. Don't buy this unless you absolutely need what it provides, which is not a lot. I may return it, it provides me no value and in fact makes other things like my home network more complex and less reliable.

The pro Series Wifi module was very easy to setup. I use it along with my Pro Series 1850 Backup Sump Pump system. It monitors any changes that affect the operation of the backup system and alerts me by email of a problem no matter where I am. I haven't been able to configure it to send a text alert yet but the email alert works fine. It is moderately priced and PED was very easy to deal with.

This was just terrible!! I spent a lot of time trying to get it to connect to my wifi system. I had to call the manufacture only to find out it does not work on my wifi system and will have to wait about 6 months till a new one is completed in manufacturing.

I have been trying everything imaginable to get this Wi-Fi module to work as it is supposed to. I called once and spoke to someone at the company who said it has a weak signal and that it has to be installed within 20 feet of the router. Obviously, this is a problem. It shouldn’t have been a surprise to the company that they are being used in basements. Using an extended data cable that did not come with the device. I got it as close as I could and it connects now but it loses the connection after a few hours for some unknown reason. Also, it does not reconnect ever, so I have to completely start from scratch, reset it, enter all the information again, and the same thing keeps happening over and over. It is worthless. It’s just unacceptable that the company sells this device and then makes it the buyers problem to deal with the fact that it does not work. I guess it’s possible to get it to work if you have some kind of computer knowledge, but for somebody who doesn’t, like me, it’s impossible, and I have plenty of Wi-Fi devices that work just as they’re supposed to, and I’ve never had a problem. Very disappointing. I spent a lot of money purchasing this sump pump, the C 33, and having it installed. I never would’ve purchased it if I knew that the Wi-Fi feature would not work. This is false advertising.

Sorry to hear you're having problems with our Wi-Fi module staying connected to your network. If distance is causing the issue, there are several solutions for this such as installing a Wi-Fi range booster between somewhere between your internet modem and our Wi-Fi module. These devices are usually inexpensive and should solve your problem with dropped connections. Also, if you wanted to reach back out to us, we can have one of our Wi-Fi module specialists work with you on finding a permanent solution for this. We can be reached at 800-991-0466 option 3 and are here to help from 8-6 Monday - Friday central time.

WiFi Uses 802.11g
By Scott

Review Posted 04/20/2023
There are a few reviews stating this device will not connect to their wireless network. Many newer Wi-Fi routers are not configured to communicate with the older 802.11g by default. This module is using a bit outdated WiFi version which is 802.11g. I am using a newer ASUS WiFi router that defaults to 802.11ax. 802.11ax, 802.11ac, and 802.11n will not work with this device. You will have to downgrade the Wi-Fi connection type to 802.11g (2.4 GHz) in the settings of your Wi-Fi router.
Also as others have pointed out, a strong WiFi signal is needed. I had to use the entire length of the data cable and mount this Wi-Fi module higher on the wall. My ASUS Wi-Fi router shows a strength of -63dBm. The device would periodically drop and reconnect until I moved the device to gain better signal strength. The device is now staying connected solid to my ASUS Wi-Fi router.
I also purchased the Pro Series DFC2 - Deluxe Controller System that this Wi-Fi module is paired with. It does give me the piece of mind via text and email messages in the event of a power outage, float problem, or pump running continuously. Status can be viewed via a website they provide. I do wish the device showed more stats on the web site such as number of pump cycles per day and the time of the last pump test and/or pump cycle.

The installation was easy and set up only took ten minutes, I did lose wi fi once but system came back online. I did get a router extender for a stronger signal. The real test is when we go away for awhile. Let you know.

Hoping For Alerts
By Garry M
IL
Review Posted 02/14/2023
I bought this along with the PHCC-2400 battery back up pump so I would get alerts if the back up pump was running or in case of a power outage. I've only had the system in place for a week so I can't give a long term review on this module, however it did send alerts when I tested it by unplugging this system as well as the main pump and allowing this pump to run. I did however run into issues while trying to link this module to my home internet. The signal it puts out is very limited, so I had to stand within a few feet of the module while working to link it to my home internet. This was a real pain and I was a bit leery at the time if it would work. Since then it has been online and I have been able to check the app on my phone to see the status. It is my hope that in the event my main pump fails for whatever reason, this back up system works and I get alerts.

Wifi Module

I cannot get the unit to connect to my wifi. I complained to Gentronics and they sent me a new module with different firmware since I have Spectrum as my internet provider. Well, that didn’t work either. So when I have another hour to spend on the phone I will call to troubleshoot it. Not pleased as of right now
