I bought this pump combination. Setup exactly as directed. Primary pump seems to work ok. Went to test the backup pump, poured water in until float went up and heard backup pump try but with no water coming through and sounding weak (alarm went off and now says system alert etc.)..
The backup pump comes all pre-assembled.... I have read backwards check valve on backup pump from factory r hole needed drilled? This should be plug and go ( don't see how check valve could be backwards as all male to females, don't see where could reverse only one?). I'm at the end of my rope on this, any ideas I guess I'm pulling out the hole to either return or try a few minutes troubleshoot...
Should have went with my gut on this unit. Read the reviews previous and got sucked in by wifi feature this one had compared to higher praised liberty unit.

Sorry to hear you're having problems. Based on what you described, the most likely cause of your problem is air-lock. In the troubleshooting guide in the manual, "Drill a 1/16” - 1/8” (1.6mm-3.2mm) dia. hole between pump discharge &
check valve (1-2” above where the discharge pipe screws into the pump
discharge and below the waterline)."
For additional troubleshooting, Meyers can be reached directly @ 888-987-8677

Difficult To Use
Sump Pump MBSP-3C

This pump has a some major problems. Not even a year old and it has a short to ground. Resulting in a electrical shock if you put your hand in the water.
The backup is even worse, both the primary and backup pumps have there own discharge lines and check valves but merge at a y-coupling and then connect to the house discharge pipe. The problem occurs when the primary pump activates and puts pressure on the backup pumps check valve. This is possible because of the y-coupling , now when you test the backup pump it can’t open it’s own check valve. It seems the pressure of the primary pump coming on and off over time causes the backups check- valve to stick, thus blocking ability to pump out any water rendering it useless.

Based on your description of the the problem with the primary and backup check valves, it sounds like the backup pump is becoming air-locked. The troubleshooting guide in the manual states... Drill a 1/16” - 1/8” (1.6mm-3.2mm) dia. hole between pump discharge & check valve (1-2” above where the discharge pipe screws into the pump discharge and below the waterline).

We bought this unit to replace a single sump. We had considered everything from a battery backup pump from HD to full house generator. The cost of that brought us back to what we really needed. This unit was easy for me to install: just make sure you measure from the very bottom of the sump pit when you make the cut into existing pipe. We oriented the unit so no drain water would fall directly onto the unit.
The instructions were easy to follow and accurate. Registering for the interweb notification was easy also.
I got my exercise carrying buckets of water down stairs to test the thing, to find there is a normal max amount that stays in the pit - it drains away when there is no rain. I didnt want to run it dry as per the instructions, so eventually took multiple buckets before pouring them in. All worked just fine.I kept the old pump close by in case of emergency.
The only issue I had was with the distance of my router from the unit - it had enough signal strength to connect, but every few hours it would disconnect and and send me and the wife an email. Relocated the units transponder to the basement and connected to the router with an extension Cat5 cable. No problems since.
Very nice unit, looking to get decades of minimal use from it.

Assembly qaulity issues. Otherwise good.

I am not impressed at all with the assembly of this unit, there were many things not properly installed at the factory.
1. The secondary float switch was installed upside down from the factory forcing me to take the pumps out of the hole the first time.
2. The check valve on the battery backup sump was installed in the wrong direction which obviously would not allow water out the discharge pipe. This was the second time I had to pull the pumps out of the hole.
3. The control panel falls out easily on one side of the case and I am unable to remove it from the other side. It seems like the tabs that hold it in place are bent from the assembly in the factory.
4. The cover for the top of the battery backup pump would not stay on so I glued it back into place. This made me take the pumps out a third time.
Operation of the unit:
1. The unit did not like a fresh interstate deep cycle from the interstate factory. The unit kept erroring out, I solved this by charging the battery for a little while on a standard battery charger.
2. The operators/installation manual is sub-par.
3. Setting up the unit to work with the virtual water assistant was a breeze, very easy to setup and automatic texting is very responsive, which was the primary reason I purchase this unit.
As far as I can tell most of the product seems built decent enough but some major quality control issues in their assembly process. Once I got all the issues resolved everything seems to function normally. I will update this review if anything changes. If everything holds up over the next year I may purchase a second unit for the other sump location in my house.

Although I have not yet had to use the sump pump in a storm situation, I have got alerted when power and Internet have been lost. Although I have had this pump for about three months, I have not been able to use It in a real situation because we have no real heavy rainstorm. But it is a great peace of mind knowing that I am prepared.
