This pump is worth the cost! It's reliable, quiet and pumps water quickly. The pump was easy to install and I feel confident that it will hold up over time.

Thank God I Have It

Just installed it right before my kitchen was tourn out for an upgrade. All my dishes are now being washed in my basement sink using the Liberty pump. It keeps on chugging along no problems. Was easy to install. Use a little plumbers seal for the PVC thread connectors at the pump to keep a good seal without any leaks. Very happy with it.

Very Satisfied - Replaced a 404 with 405
By J M

I replaced the smaller 404 pump (140F temperature rating) with 405 (180F temp). I like the larger volume means less cycling and needed the higher temperature rating. Our pump was in kitchen sink service with a garbage disposal and someone who cooks with a lot of fats. Amazingly the 404 lasted over 4 years once a year was a nasty cleanout to remove the solidified greases. Boiling pasta water was being dumped all the time. I'm expecting the 405 to be nearly lifetime.
My only caution is to be careful when threading into the pump connections. The PVC fitting threads are a harder material than the pump basin and I cross-threaded the inlet fairly easily but overtaped it and it was fine no leaks.
I went with a spring loaded transparent body check valve ($35) so I could see what's going on in there. It is made for pool service but it is working fine for the first month. I have a 9 ft lift to overcome.

Sump Pump Equalled Square Feet
By Jason C.
Toronto, New York
Purchased 07/15/2013 |
Review Posted 08/27/2013
I needed a commercial sump pump for a multi-compartmental sink used in a food business.
I first tried a 1/4hp sump from a local hardware store that drained via garden hose. It was very slow, loud and I was concerned about food bits blocking things up over time.
The pump purchased from sump pumps direct was a self contained unit with 2 inch plumbing connections in and out. This made me feel much more comfortable with my application. The first time it filled and emptied I had a grin from ear to ear. Very quiet and easily moved the water 11 feet up and across the 20 food room that has my drain on the other side.
By using the sump to move water to the drain instead of being forced to install right at the drain, I had twice as many square feet to build my kitchen.
Looking forward to years of use.

For the Liberty 405 model pump system, I see the unit has a " provision " for a stack vent. Is it absolutely necessary to have a vent on this type of pump system? I am using the system to lift kitchen sink drain water to my house drain system approx 3 ft. Thanks.
