Great Pump

Liberty Pump #251is a good product. It seems solid, and well built. I used it to pump rainwater out of a sump. It replaces a 25 year old Barnes sump pump that finally failed. This year there has been so little rain in California, but the one time it did rain, the pump worked as it should and pumped the rainwater out of the sump. So far it seems to be a good product, that is USA built.

Great Pump

I bought this to replace a burned-out 1/2 hp Zoeller, that one lasted 7 or 8 years so I guess it did OK. My sump takes in brine effluent from my water softener, so it is a much more harsh task than pumping just ground water.

I was a little nervous getting a 1/3 hp pump, but after seeing this pump perform I think 1/2 hp might be overkill for most residential applications. It's built very well and is not overly bulky, has good weight to it, easy to install, has a nice paint coating which is important to me for corrosion protection.

I prefer the tether switch to other types, I've had other switch types corrode and freeze up. First thing I noticed was how quiet it is! It's barely audible a few feet away, much quieter than the Zoeller was. It empties my sump crock very quickly.

Time will tell how long it will last, so far it has been excellent. These are built just a few miles from my home, so it's great to buy a quality product and support the local economy.

The pump runs great as designed. However, I never had a sump pump fail during the dry season. I keep one for backup during the spring rains.

Replaced a pump that was working but had a bad float switch. The switch was expensive, so I replaced the unit with this type of pump with switch that does not require a lot of room. Very pleased since the unit's sump really is a 5 gallon plastic bucket buried in a low spot of my yard.
