Will Not Shut Off

I have 2 pumps in my sump pit. I put this switch on the 2nd pump and it doesn't get used hardly ever. Not sure when it started doing this because again it doesn't get used much but it won't shut the pump off. It starts and operates the sump but it just keeps running until I unplug it. if I leave it unplugged for a while sometimes it will work but the next time it needs to work again it just keeps running and burning up the pump. Good concept just doesn't work like it should.

Expert Response
Since you're using this on a 2nd pump in the pit, I'd revisit the owner's manual...
TEST and CALIBRATION
1. Allow water to fill the sump pit up to the LevelGuard’s Switch “ON” Point
2. Sump pump will turn on within 3 seconds of the water level reaching the switch point and start its Sump Self-Calibration
3. The pump will remain on for 13 seconds or until the water level drops below the Lower Switch Point
4. If the Lower Switch Point is not reached during this cycle the LevelGuard will increase the pump run time by 1 second on each subsequent cycle until the Lower Switch Point is reached or until the total pump run time is 60 seconds.
5. The LevelGuard then calculates the Maximum Pump Run-time. It will use this time calculation to prevent pump run-on.
LevelGuard stands behind this switch with a 5-Year Limited Warranty. For additional troubleshooting or if you think your switch might be defective, Level Guard can be reached directly @ 1-877-342-3261
