Adhesive Hardened Too Quickly
By Tim
Pennsylvania
Purchased 10/03/2018 |
Review Posted 10/20/2018
The product instructions for this product should have warned (in bold type) that the adhesive hardens extremely quickly. I mixed up about 1/2 the product and used it to put 7 ports in place. By the time this was done the adhesive had set into a rubbery mass that could not be used. In the end I mixed the rest, in smaller amounts, but did not have enough to adequately cover the ports and the crack. When injecting the liquid foam, it ended running out and making a big mess at places where there was not enough adhesive. What a mess! I think I have wasted my money. Let the buyer beware! Set-up time is extremely quick for the adhesive! I would recommend only mixing enough for two ports and to cover two 8" lengths of crack at a time.

Expert Response
Very sorry you had problems with the product. The instructions on our site state "1. Be prepared to work quickly with mixed adhesive. Pour small equal amounts of surface seal and port adhesive (about ¼ of each jar) onto a scrap piece of cardboard.

Works Great, even after 1 year

Applied product as described (also viewed video on youtube which eased my mind as to the process) and have had no issues to date (1 year so far). My crack was from basement window to 5 feet below grade which leaked during rain. The epoxy dries VERY quickly so only mix what you can apply in a minute or two. Also, you need to have a quality chalk gun to inject the expanding compound. The $4 chalk gun will not work as you can't apply enough pressure squeeze the compound into small cracks.

I don't agree with the reviewer that says it can fall out. This can't happen if the compound is injected into the wall.

Good For 4 Years So Far
By Sarah
New York
Review Posted 12/12/2015
I have an outside "oil tank room" that is below grade (I live in lower NY State). It is poured cement wall. Due to construction of a building behind me, the vibrations when they were putting in the pilings caused a large vertical crack which would flood my room, a crack across the ceiling, and one across the top of the walls which is not below grade. I filled all the cracks 4 years ago.

Today, 12/2015, I can tell you the cracks have never leaked. As the very top of the room is not below grade, I can also say that the foam that made it to the exposed exterior has deteriorated, but all the foam that leaked out of the cracks on the inside is just like new 4 years later. The room as no heat and during the year has huge fluctuations in temperature from 0 to 100 degrees.

I can also say that foam came out about 2-3 feet from where the ports were on one side of the wall, so it really does a great job of going where ever it can to seal cracks that I didn't know were there!

Pros:
Durable, Easy To Use, Price, Exceeded Expectations
Cons:
Have To Move Fast The Epoxy Is Really Sticky
Use mortar instead

This stuff is junk, go to the brick store (NOT Menards, Lowes, etc), and get good mortar mix. This stuff is a total waste of time, good luck as it cracks and falls out a year later.

Speed and small portions of mix is the key.

Follow the directions and watch the instructional video and everything should turn out well. When mixing compound for ports, only use a tablespoon or less. This compound sets up fast- real fast. I've used floor patch (2 part) compounds and you typically have about 10 minutes before it sets.

The wall compound started to stiffen up in less than a minute. Cover the base of the ports well. Its been a month of rain storms and wall and floor appear to be bone dry- repair worked. One last bit of advice have an extra pair of throw away gloves & a small box on hand the mixing compound sticks to everything that is dry!

Admittedly I was skeptical but I gave it a try. Unfortunately I bought two because I had two cracks in two places. One was just surface so I wasted $100. Warning!! The product you mix and put on the surface dries SUPER FAST! There wasn't enough emphasis on that. Mix a little do it often. I had one crack leak constantly...after waiting a full week after a rain (leaked a full 7 days after a rain) I applied the product. Happy to report not a drop of rain since! The run along my basement dried for the first time since last winter. No more wet basement!!
