OK. I don't respond to these requests often but I felt this deserved a response. We purchased our current house in January and asked during the due diligent period about the pits and pumps in the basement. The owner reviewed the system with me. Two pits. All ground water empties into the first pit and if that pump failed or could not keep up with the water it will flow over into second pit and would have two pumps working. I tested both pumps and they worked.
In June the water table came up and we started getting water into the first pit. Pump worked great. All good. But I kept thinking what if we lost power. So I thought I needed a back up generator to handle the pumps during a power outage. I priced a couple of units and decided that approach was not correct or going to work for me. And what if the power goes out when I am not home. I got on line and searched for back up system.
Sump Pumps Direct info came right up. I reviewed the different systems available and chose the Basement Watchdog Special CONNECT Model SPD-BWSPKIT. I hooked it up in the second pit. The water table has since dropped so I don't think I'll hook up the battery until next spring as we will not experience high water table until then. Also the pump in the first tank failed and I purchased a Liberty pump from Sump Pump Direct. I had questions and they got back to me quickly. If I need anything else I'll call these guys first.

My mother had it installed by a plumber who commented that it was a good brand. Had a power outage about 2 weeks after it was installed. Pump came on with high sump level switch and worked perfect.

Long Lasting and Dependable. We have alot of water in our basement on our street but generally don't lose power for very long so the 8 hour battery is perfect for our situation.
We have a 1/2 HP pump and this 1/3 HP is our backup.

For a backup that never runs, having the heart of the system outside the pump - the control board died after 6 years shows poor quality. Don't buy.
