Great Battery

1st battery last 7 years. Tested it regularly for function, always worked, but can't really say how the amp-hours held up with time. Replaced it with this one, hope to get another 7 years.

Battery Replacement
By Greg K
Michigan
Purchased 01/11/2024 |
Review Posted 02/07/2024
I installed a Watchdog backup system at least 15 years ago in our home. Went through a couple "maintainable" batteries during that time with no issues. Always bought my replacement batteries at Home Depot. Home Depot still carries replacement batteries but maintenance free. I installed that battery and had nothing but alarms being set (battery alarms). I checked the voltage across the terminals after a few days and the voltage was 15.5 volts. Not only were alarms being set but the battery was being overcharged. I returned the battery and ordered this battery from Sump Pumps Direct. Have had zero issues with the system. The battery arrived on time. I only had to buy a container of acid to activate the battery. I'm attributing the alarms using the maintenance free battery to the age of the electronics on my system. Excellent price too.

Basement Watchdog Batteries - Lifesavers
By Shelley W.
HUNTINGTOWN, Maryland
Purchased 08/23/2020 |
Review Posted 09/18/2020
I’ve been using these batteries for About 15-20 years. years. My last one lasted approx. 6-7 years. It got us through the “Isaias Hurricane“ by running for 6-7 hours.

After the storm, the battery needed replaced because it surpassed its lifespan. I bought the battery above. It seems to work great.

Only two minor product inconveniences.

Acid - Battery was filled with acid, as directed, for the first use. Alarm went off saying we also needed distilled water. Luckily, we had some on hand.

Trickle charge probe - I have an older system with a trickle charge probe. My first battery had a small hole right on the battery to insert probe. Directions say to keep “yellow” cap from old battery to use on this battery for the probe (no probe hole on battery). Now, probe is inserted through cap into a cell.

**If you have a yellow cap with hole from previous batter, please keep it before trade in**

Suggestion: Have manufacturer put probe hole back in battery please.

Wet Basement? Sump Pumps Direct is the way to go!
By Art
Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Purchased 07/17/2012 |
Review Posted 09/19/2012
The area that I live in has a lot of underground water. When we get heavy rains, the water comes up from underneath and my 2 sump pumps work overtime keeping up. I don't have much of a problem unless we lose electricity, then I have a major problem.

I have a back-up in the form of a portable generator, but if I am not home that does no good. I did have a small battery back-up system that was of lower quality and capacity.

Thanks to Sump Pumps Direct I have a good system in the Basement Watchdog to ease my worries. Everything shipped to my doorstep quickly and neatly. I will definitely call Sump Pumps Direct when I need anything else.

Sump pump gift from generous but frugal aunt
By John W.
Carlisle, Pennsylvania
Review Posted 09/04/2012
The client had experienced a water loss in a recently finished basement with no sump pump. Her aunt offered to provide one for her.

This unit was chosen because it offers a combination of the primary sump pump system with the battery back-up unit already assembled. The cost of the dual unit is considerably less than a separate add-on system, plus ease of assembly.

Once the pit had been dug and the preformed shell set in position, installation was much like installing a primary unit with only a couple simple additional connections for the battery and monitor system. There were no special brackets or additional plumbing connections required.

The client and I were very pleased with the product. We hope it will never be put to the test!
